State Road Covered Bridge

State Road Covered Bridge is a covered wooden structure crossing Conneaut Creek, featuring windows that run along its entire length. The bridge spans approximately 157 feet and provides clearance for standard vehicle traffic.

The original bridge was built in 1831 by Ira Benton and David Niles and served until 1898 when replacement became necessary. The current structure reflects traditional American building practices from that early era.

The construction of this bridge in 1983 established the annual Ashtabula County Covered Bridge Festival, which continues to gather residents.

The bridge lies east of North Kingsville and accommodates normal vehicle traffic. Visitors should watch for slippery surfaces during wet weather and note the limited interior lighting when passing through.

The bridge was constructed using approximately 97,000 feet of southern pine and oak, showcasing carpentry techniques from the 1800s. This material choice demonstrates why such structures have endured for generations.
