The three-story Beaux-Arts structure features buff brick walls, limestone foundations, and two perpendicular blocks with semicircular wings on the southern corners.
Built in 1895 through Samuel Thorne's financing, the school addressed community needs and led to the formal incorporation of Millbrook village.
The school introduced manual arts education, including carpentry, blacksmithing, sewing, and food preparation, alongside traditional academic subjects through grade twelve.
Located at Franklin and Maple streets, the building contains multiple classrooms arranged around an open stairwell, with a two-story auditorium and exposed iron trusses.
The structure includes an adjacent cobblestone blacksmith shop that served educational purposes before becoming a storage facility.
