Trinity Methodist Episcopal Church and Rectory

Trinity Methodist Episcopal Church and Rectory, Methodist Episcopal church in Poughkeepsie, United States.

Trinity Methodist Episcopal Church sits on Hooker Avenue as a striking red brick structure with stone accents throughout its walls. A hexagonal tower with crenellated details dominates the front, topped with an open belfry, while a separate two-and-a-half-story rectory stands nearby on the compact property.

The structure was built in 1892 during a period of Methodist church expansion in the region. Recognition as a historic site came in 1982 when it was added to the National Register of Historic Places.

The church has served the Methodist community in this neighborhood for generations and remains a gathering place for worship and community activities. Local congregants continue to use the spaces for regular services and social events throughout the year.

The property is compact and encompasses both the main church building and the rectory on one site. The location on Hooker Avenue makes it straightforward to find and visit.

Architect Corydon Wheeler created an uncommon blend of Romanesque Revival and Queen Anne style elements here that sets this design apart from other churches of its era. The way these architectural styles come together on this structure is particularly noticeable.
