Wildwood Amusement Park

Wildwood Amusement Park, Amusement park in Wildwood, New Jersey, US.

Wildwood Amusement Park is a large seaside amusement complex on the New Jersey coast, spread across several piers that sit directly over the beach and water. It combines dry rides, roller coasters, family attractions, and water parks, all connected by the famous wooden boardwalk.

The amusement complex in Wildwood took shape in the late 19th century as a modest beach attraction and grew steadily through the 20th century as new piers were added one by one. The postwar decades brought a wave of expansion, driven by the growing number of families coming to the Jersey Shore for summer holidays.

The boardwalk around Wildwood Amusement Park is lined with carnival games, food stalls, and souvenir shops that follow a long tradition of seaside entertainment on the Jersey Shore. On summer evenings, families walk the wooden planks between rides and food stands, giving the place a festive feel that has stayed largely the same for generations.

The park operates mainly from spring through fall, with the busiest period in summer when nearly all rides and water attractions are running. Since the piers cover a good stretch of the boardwalk, comfortable shoes and a full day are worth planning for.

Several of the piers extend directly over the ocean, meaning some roller coasters and ride tracks are built above open water rather than solid ground. From certain cars or gondolas, riders look straight down at the Atlantic, something you rarely get at a land-based park.
