The William L. Slayton House features glass walls on its front and rear elevations, creating transparent interior spaces filled with natural light.
Constructed in 1960 for urban renewal official William Slayton, the residence represents one of only three houses designed by architect I.M. Pei.
The house demonstrates the principles of International Style architecture through its minimalist design and emphasis on geometric forms and transparency.
The 647.5-square-meter residence incorporates red brick walls, concrete foundations, and aluminum entrance canopies to ensure durability and functionality.
The structure's triple-vault roof, made of poured-in-place concrete, stands 13 feet high and marks an early application of this technique in US residential architecture.
