Indian Springs Park, Historic park in East Davenport, United States.
Indian Springs Park is a 3-acre space set within a natural depression north of East River Drive in Davenport. The site was developed around a natural spring that is now capped, though the landscape still reflects the original geological formation.
The land was donated to the city in 1921 by Mrs. D.N. Richardson, and the natural spring was capped in 1929. This transformation from an open water source to a contained park reflects the city's early modernization efforts.
The park is part of the East Davenport Historic District and reflects the neighborhood's connection to its natural origins. The spring that once fed the basin held significance for Native Americans who used these waters long before the area developed.
The park is located at 1000 Spring Street near Hoover Elementary School and is easily accessible to neighborhood visitors. During wetter seasons the basin may hold standing water, so visitors should be prepared for potentially damp conditions.
During wet seasons the basin fills with water from the capped spring, creating temporary habitat for shorebirds and waterfowl. This seasonal transformation reveals how the land still responds to its original hydrological nature despite the spring being enclosed.
