Munsinger Gardens and Clemens Gardens, Botanical gardens on Mississippi River banks in St. Cloud, Minnesota.
Munsinger Gardens and Clemens Gardens are connected botanical grounds along the Mississippi River totaling approximately 21 acres near downtown. The first section features winding paths beneath pine trees and natural plantings, while the second displays structured garden rooms with fountains and formal beds arranged in European styles.
The original gardens began construction in the 1930s as a public works project during the Great Depression. The formal European-style gardens were added as an expansion decades later during the 1990s, doubling the size and scope of the grounds.
The gardens serve as a gathering place where visitors experience the care that goes into creating different garden styles and plant communities. Local residents return often to enjoy seasonal changes and to spend time in a space that belongs to the whole community.
The grounds are open daily during daylight hours and charge no admission fee, making it an easy visit to plan. Comfortable walking shoes are recommended since exploring all areas takes a couple of hours and paths vary between packed earth and paved surfaces.
The Virginia Clemens Rose Garden stands out with multiple fountains and decorative ironwork featuring European design elements combined with regional plant varieties. This blending shows how traditional European garden design was adapted for this particular location and climate.

Minnesota contains numerous locations away from the main tourist circuits. The state stretches from the shores of Lake Superior to the southern prairies, encompassing historic lighthouses, underground mines, waterfalls, and Japanese gardens. Visitors find both natural landscapes and cultural sites that tell the story of the region's history. Notable locations include prehistoric rock carvings at Jeffers Petroglyphs Site, where indigenous peoples left their marks thousands of years ago, and sacred trees of Ojibwe culture. The geological formation known as Devil's Kettle, a waterfall whose course puzzled scientists for years, attracts visitors interested in natural phenomena. Historic mines provide insight into Minnesota's industrial past, while lighthouses recall the maritime history along the largest of the Great Lakes.
