Seven Oaks Farm and Black's Tavern

The main residence features a two-story structure with a hipped roof, accompanied by a three-bay north wing and multiple agricultural outbuildings across the property.

Built around 1847 for Dr. John Bolling Garrett, who worked at the University of Virginia, the property changed ownership through the Bowen, Shirley, and Langhorne families.

The property received its name from seven oak trees named after Virginia-born presidents, with only one remaining after Hurricane Hazel in 1954.

Located along U.S. Route 250 within the Greenwood-Afton Rural Historic District, the exterior of the property remains visible from the public right-of-way.

The farm contains a distinctive hexagonal ice house, differing from the typical octagonal design found in other historical properties of the period.
