Tree Streets Historic District is a residential area in Waynesboro that encompasses several streets with tree names such as Cherry, Walnut, Maple, and Oak. The neighborhood displays many homes in Greek Revival style and other residential architecture that grew over about 150 years.
The neighborhood developed during the 1800s as Waynesboro grew and wealthy families settled there to build homes. The earliest known building is a stone house from the early 1800s with thick fieldstone walls.
The streets take their names from trees that once defined the landscape, creating a character tied to the town's roots. As you walk through the neighborhoods, you can see how residents still inhabit and maintain these historic homes today.
