30 Hudson Yards, Postmodern skyscraper in Hudson Yards, USA.
30 Hudson Yards is a postmodern skyscraper in Hudson Yards, Manhattan, rising 395 meters with 73 floors above ground. The glass and steel facade wraps office spaces used by major corporations, complemented by an observation deck in the upper section.
Construction of this tower began in 2014 and finished in March 2019, as part of the redevelopment of western Manhattan. The project brought new office space to a former rail yard that had been neglected for decades.
Künstler Jaume Plensa created a lobby installation of suspended stainless steel spheres representing global connections. This work greets every visitor entering the building with its reflective surfaces and mathematical forms.
The building has 59 elevators serving the different office floors, carrying employees and visitors to their destinations. Those wishing to visit the observation deck should check access conditions in advance, as entry to the main building is restricted.
The Edge observation deck extends outward from the 100th floor and features a glass floor section offering direct views to the streets 1,100 feet (335 meters) below. This suspended area was engineered to give visitors a sense of floating above the city.
