Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, Catholic church in Moorestown, United States
Our Lady of Good Counsel Church is a Catholic church in Moorestown featuring Mid-Gothic Romanesque Revival architecture built with Stockton stone. The structure at 42 West Main Street displays characteristic stonework and design elements typical of this architectural style.
The parish began as a mission in 1832 at a Catholic farm in Fellowship, New Jersey, initially called The Chapel of Our Lady and St. Patrick. The community eventually established this building in Moorestown as its permanent place of worship.
The church displays a statue of Mary holding infant Jesus, created by artist Carl LaVitch to commemorate the building's centenary. This statue serves as a focal point for devotion and reflects the parish's deep connection to Marian tradition.
Services are held on Saturday evening at 5 PM and Sunday mornings at 8 AM, 10 AM, and noon. Weekday masses occur daily from Monday through Saturday at 9 AM, providing regular opportunities for worship throughout the week.
This structure stands as the oldest surviving building in downtown Moorestown and received National Register of Historic Places designation in 1990. This recognition highlights its role as a historical witness to the town's growth over centuries.
