Lake Champlain Bridge, Steel truss bridge between Crown Point, New York and Chimney Point, Vermont.

The Lake Champlain Bridge spans 2,200 feet across Lake Champlain with a central arch reaching eight stories high and weighing 1.8 million pounds.

The original structure opened in 1929 as a toll bridge, serving as a vital connection until 2009 when safety concerns led to its demolition and replacement.

The bridge connects two distinct regions, linking New England traditions of Vermont with the Mid-Atlantic heritage of New York across Lake Champlain's waters.

The structure features 11-foot travel lanes, five-foot shoulders for large vehicles and bicycles, plus sidewalks on both sides for pedestrian access.

Engineers constructed the central arch span at Port Henry before floating it by barge to the site and lifting it into position between the approach spans.
