Grand Isle State Park, Recreational state park in Grand Isle County, Vermont

Grand Isle State Park is a recreational area along Lake Champlain in Vermont with wooded sections, open lawns, and nearly 1.3 km (0.8 mi) of shoreline for swimming and recreation. The park provides camping options with tent sites and covered shelters, a few cabins, flush facilities, showers, and boat access to the lake.

The park opened in 1959 when the state purchased land from the former Birchcliff resort, which had previously operated as a guest destination. The resort property was abandoned and gradually converted into a public recreation area.

The visitor center shares stories about the region and explains how people have used this shoreline over time. You can learn about local wildlife and the important role the lake plays in the community.

Swimming and boating are accessible year-round, and the facilities are laid out in a way that makes navigation straightforward for visitors of all kinds. It helps to check ahead to see which areas and services operate during your planned visit, especially outside peak summer months.

One building from the old Birchcliff resort still stands and now serves as the visitor center, making it the last remaining piece of the original resort days. This structure tells the story of how the place once operated as a private getaway.
