The Dr. John Lord House is a two-and-a-half-story wood-frame residence built in the mid-1800s using the Gothic Revival architectural style. The building displays characteristic features of this approach, including pointed arches at windows and detailed decorative elements across its exterior.

Built in 1867, the house exemplified prosperous residential construction in the Chautauqua County region during that era. It gained protection when added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1991, securing its status as an important record of American home building from the 1800s.
