Rose Hill Mansion

Rose Hill Mansion is a Greek Revival house in Fayette that overlooks Seneca Lake. The building features six Ionic columns supporting a triangular roof structure, with matching wings arranged in a U-shape around the main facade.

A New York City merchant commissioned construction of this house in 1839, drawing on architectural ideas popular at that time. The building reflects how wealthy individuals borrowed design concepts from leading architects of the era.

The rooms display furnishings from the early 1800s that show how wealthy families decorated and lived during that period. Walking through them reveals the tastes and daily habits of the upper class at that time.
