Via 57 West

Via 57 West is a pyramid-shaped residential building in Hell's Kitchen with a distinctive sloped facade and a large central courtyard. The skyscraper spans 34 floors and contains different apartment types, ranging from studios to four-bedroom units.

The building was completed in 2016 and marked a fresh approach to residential design on Manhattan. It was a commission by the Danish architecture firm Bjarke Ingels Group, which brought new ideas about urban living to the site.

The building became an instant local landmark thanks to its unusual shape, drawing attention from both residents and passersby. Its sloped walls and central courtyard stand out visually against the rectangular blocks that surround it.

The central courtyard is publicly accessible to residents and offers a calm space in the heart of the busy neighborhood. The building has eleven elevators and multiple levels that provide several entrances and pathways for different users.

The central courtyard, at about 2,000 square meters, feels like a hidden green space within the dense urban fabric. Many passersby never notice this interior garden, even though it provides direct contact with nature and shapes life inside the tower.
