Theatre on Film and Tape Archive, Film archive division in Lincoln Center Plaza, Manhattan, United States

The Theatre on Film and Tape Archive records and stores professional videos of Broadway and Off-Broadway productions at the New York Public Library for the Performing Arts.

Betty L. Corwin established the Theatre on Film and Tape Archive in 1970 after securing agreements with theatrical unions to permit recordings of live performances.

The archive maintains over 5,000 recordings of theatrical performances, enabling researchers and professionals to study historical stage productions and performance techniques.

Visitors can access the Lucille Lortel screening room on the third floor of the library during operating hours from Monday through Saturday without appointments.

The collection includes the first recorded performance of Golden Bat, a 1970 Off-Broadway Japanese rock musical, marking the beginning of systematic theatre preservation.
