Domino Park, Waterfront park in Brooklyn, United States
Domino Park is a public park along the East River in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, built on the site of a former sugar refinery. It features a waterfront walkway, a playground, sports courts, and an elevated walkway with views of the river and Manhattan skyline.
The park opened in 2018 on the site of the Domino Sugar Refinery, which operated for over a century. It was designed by James Corner Field Operations, the firm behind the High Line, and is owned by Two Trees Management.
The volleyball court honors the Latino community that has long lived in Williamsburg, where the sport is popular. Local residents often gather here for games and picnics, and the park hosts events like a Sunday greenmarket and outdoor performances.
The park is open from sunrise to sunset, with the playground accessible during the same hours. Visitors can enter from several points along the waterfront, and the paths are mostly flat, making it easy to walk or cycle through the area.
The playground, called Sweetwater Playground, is designed to mimic the sugar refining process, with children entering as raw sugar cane and exiting as molasses or sugar cubes. The park also displays salvaged factory equipment, including four syrup collection tanks, as part of an artifact walk.
