Sage Creek Campground

Sage Creek Campground is a basic camping area with 22 sites nested in Badlands National Park in South Dakota, surrounded by rugged rock formations and open prairie. The location includes pit toilets, covered picnic tables, and parking areas that support simple camping stays.

The campground was created to give the public access to the geological landscapes of Badlands National Park. This development connected the inhabited history of the region with modern visitor opportunities.

Native American tribes, including the Lakota people, lived near this land for generations, utilizing the natural resources of the surrounding prairies.

Bring your own water supply as none is available on-site, and expect minimal facilities. The remote location means supply stops are far away, so come fully prepared for self-sufficiency.

Free-roaming bison regularly move through the campground and provide visitors with direct encounters with these large prairie animals. These meetings are unplanned and show how wild the surroundings truly are.
