The hotel welcomed its first guests on July 1, 1928, following a construction period that began in 1927 under the vision of railroad executive Alex Johnson.
The building incorporates traditional Sioux designs and symbols into its interior decorations, reflecting the heritage of South Dakota's indigenous communities.
The downtown location provides direct access to Main Street Square, restaurants, and shops, with free street parking available on Sundays after 5 PM.
The rooftop restaurant Vertex offers panoramic views of the Black Hills while serving contemporary American cuisine on the tenth floor of the building.
