Pioneer Village, Living museum in Salem, United States
Pioneer Village features twelve colonial buildings arranged around a central green space, recreating the settlement environment of Massachusetts Bay Colony in 1630.
The museum opened in 1930 during Massachusetts tercentennial celebrations, marking three centuries since the arrival of English settlers in the region.
Each building in Pioneer Village contains period-accurate furnishings and tools, demonstrating the methods colonists used for cooking, farming, and manufacturing.
Located in Forest River Park off Massachusetts Route 1A, Pioneer Village maintains seasonal operating hours with guided tours available from spring through fall.
The museum includes a blacksmith shop where demonstrations show metalworking techniques from the 17th century using original colonial-era equipment.
