Teatro Ayacucho, National historical monument and movie theater in central Caracas, Venezuela.
Teatro Ayacucho features a Baroque facade with a rounded pediment, Corinthian pillars, and a wide central stairway at its entrance point.
The theater opened on December 19, 1925, as the first movie palace in Caracas, designed by architect Alejandro Chataing who created the Nuevo Circo.
The theater initially contained 1600 seats across multiple levels and received notable visits from film stars including Rodolpho Valentino and Pola Negri.
The venue maintains two operating movie screens in the former gallery area while incorporating a shopping center with restaurants in the main auditorium.
Original decorative elements remain preserved, including detailed plasterwork on the balcony front and historical light fixtures near the proscenium opening.
