Plaza Bolivar, Main square in Catedral district, Caracas, Venezuela.

The central plaza features an equestrian bronze statue of Simon Bolivar surrounded by African tulip trees, jacarandas, and decorative fountains with cherubs.

Established in 1567 as Plaza Mayor, the square served as the central point of the initial 24-block layout that formed the foundation of Caracas.

The plaza functions as a meeting point where residents gather for conversations while vendors sell traditional beverages and children feed black squirrels.

The square connects multiple institutional buildings, including Caracas Cathedral, the Archbishop's Palace, City Hall, and the Federal Legislative Palace.

The bronze statue of Bolivar, cast in Munich and unveiled in 1874, rests upon a pedestal containing historical documents, coins, and the Act of Independence.
