Lehrpfad der unholdigen Personen, Educational and sculpture trail in Am Salzhaff, Germany
The Lehrpfad der unholdigen Personen is a 1.3-kilometer forest path in Am Salzhaff featuring six life-sized bronze figures of political leaders including Donald Trump, George W. Bush, and Vladimir Lenin. The sculptures are realistically crafted and positioned at different points along the route for viewing.
The trail developed from a collaboration between estate owner Marita Gronau and her partner Thomas Petsch, who conceived the idea before his death in 2017. The project continued to develop after his passing.
The bronze figures capture moments from the lives of political leaders that visitors encounter while walking. They stand along the path and invite reflection on the scenes being portrayed.
The sculptures sit partly on private property and partly on state forest land, remaining freely accessible year-round without entrance fees. Visitors can walk the trail at any time and view all statues at their own pace.
A Polish foundry declined to create a statue of Vladimir Putin for the trail, citing concerns about the Russian invasion of Ukraine. This decision reflects how global events influence artistic projects.
