Biodiversitätsmuseum Göttingen, Natural history museum in Göttingen, Germany
The Biodiversitätsmuseum occupies the upper floor of the former Natural History Museum building, featuring extensive zoological collections from the University of Göttingen.
The building, constructed in 1877 as the Natural History Museum of the University of Göttingen, underwent complete renovation from 2017 to 2022.
The museum connects researchers with the public through interactive exhibits, displaying over 100,000 specimens including flatworms, extinct birds, and a complete sperm whale skeleton.
The museum will open in 2025 at Berliner Straße 28, located above the Forum Wissen, offering guided tours through different chapters of biodiversity.
Visitors can enjoy coffee at the museum café while sitting beneath a suspended whale skeleton in the glass atrium extension.
