Victoria Baths

Victoria Baths is a Grade II* listed swimming center in Chorlton-on-Medlock featuring multi-colored brickwork, terracotta decorations, and glazed tiles throughout its interior spaces. The building contains multiple pools of varying sizes, ornate tilework, painted ceilings, and numerous stained glass windows displaying historical patterns and craftsmanship.

The building was constructed in 1906 as a public swimming facility for Manchester residents and operated for over 80 years. It closed in 1993 when public bathing facilities began to decline across the city.

For most of the twentieth century, this place served as a social hub where local people came to swim and gather together. The main pool area became a venue for community events, reflecting how public baths shaped everyday life in Manchester neighborhoods.

The building now operates as an events venue with guided tours available for visitors wanting to explore the interior. Visitors should check in advance as opening hours vary depending on scheduled activities and events.
