Green Bridge of Wales

The Green Bridge of Wales is a limestone arch along the Pembrokeshire coast that rises from the water with vegetation clinging to its surface. The formation consists of a single curved passage carved by waves through solid rock over many centuries.

The arch took shape over thousands of years as waves repeatedly carved caves into the limestone cliffs. This ongoing process of water working through rock continues to reshape the formation today.

The site holds protected status as a Site of Special Scientific Interest, Special Protected Area, and Special Area of Conservation for its geological importance.

The access road passes through an active military training range, so visitors need to check opening times before traveling. Planning ahead ensures you won't arrive to find the area closed for exercises.

Storm Ophelia in 2017 caused significant damage to the outer arch, speeding up its natural transformation. This event demonstrated how quickly such formations can change during severe weather.
