Malhargad, Mountain fort in Pune district, India

The Malhargad Fort stands at an elevation of 4,300 feet above sea level, with fortified walls and multiple bastions overlooking the Pune region.

Built between 1757 and 1760 by Maratha artillery chief Bhimrao Panse, Malhargad served as a strategic observation point for monitoring movements along Dive Ghat.

The fort contains temples dedicated to Khandoba and Mahadeva, which remain significant religious sites for the local population throughout the year.

The trek to Malhargad Fort from Zendewadi junction requires approximately 90 minutes, with visitors needing to carry their own water and provisions.

Malhargad holds the distinction of being the last fort constructed during the Maratha Empire period in Maharashtra.
