Bhuleshwar Temple, Pune

Bhuleshwar Temple is a Hindu shrine near Yavat in Malshiras village, constructed from black basalt stone with detailed wall reliefs depicting deities and mythological scenes. The sanctuary holds a Shivalinga with a Nandi Bull and displays of Lakshmi and Vishnu inside its chambers.

The temple was built in the 13th century by the Yadava dynasty and was reconstructed in the 17th century following damage during the Mughal period. This restoration shaped much of the structure that stands today.

The temple is dedicated to Shiva and displays traditional Hindu deities and religious symbols throughout its interior that reveal the spiritual importance of this place. Wall carvings and sculptures show the forms of worship that visitors can observe being practiced here today.

The temple sits south of Pune along a main highway and requires climbing steps to reach the shrine. Visitors should expect unpaved paths and basic facilities since the location is quite removed from the city.

The shrine displays a rare depiction of Ganesha in female form, worshipped by local devotees as Ganeshwari or Lambodari. This unusual representation stands out from common portrayals and catches the attention of observant visitors.
