Kasama Castle

Kasama Castle is a ruined Japanese fortress located on a hilltop near Kasama. The site contains multiple fortified sections connected by medieval stone walls that line the slopes.

The fortress was founded in 1219 to control local conflicts in the region. Over the centuries, it went through several phases of rebuilding and strengthening.

The ruins show how fortification techniques evolved in this region during the medieval period. Visitors walking through the grounds can see these changes reflected in the different construction styles.

Visitors can collect stamps and pick up information materials at the Kasama Historical Exchange Center located near the castle grounds. The site is accessible from main walking trails and offers guidance for exploring the ruins.

The site is divided into separate compounds, with the eastern and northern slopes showing particularly heavy fortifications. This layout reveals where defenders expected the fiercest attacks.
