笠間芸術の森公園, Park in Kasama, Japan

Kasama Geijutsu-no-mori Park, also known as Kasama Art Forest Park, is a hillside park in Kasama, Japan, with open grassy areas, tree-lined paths, and outdoor sculptures placed throughout the grounds. A section called Craft Hills sits within the park and houses buildings dedicated to ceramics, along with a shop and a cafe.

The park was developed in the late 20th century as part of a local effort to celebrate the ceramic arts tradition that has defined Kasama for generations. The Ibaraki Ceramic Art Museum on the grounds opened at the start of the new millennium, adding an institutional dimension to what had begun as an open public space.

In spring, wisteria flowers draw many visitors to the hillside paths. The park sits close to workshops and galleries, so the connection between the outdoors and the local pottery tradition feels natural rather than forced.

The park is within reach of central Kasama by foot or local bus, making it easy to combine with a visit to nearby galleries or the shrine. The grounds cover a wide hillside, so comfortable shoes and a bit of extra time help to explore it at a relaxed pace.

The park includes a skateboarding area, which is not something most visitors expect to find alongside outdoor sculptures and ceramics workshops. This mix draws different groups of people to the same hillside on any given day.
