Kasama Nichidō Museum of Art

The main building of Kasama Nichidō Museum of Art contains permanent displays featuring works from Impressionists and artists from Ecole de Paris.

The museum opened its doors in 1972 to commemorate the 45th anniversary of Galerie Nichidō, the first commercial art gallery in Japan for Western-style painting.

The museum building combines exhibition spaces dedicated to Western art influences with a Japanese architectural approach, reflecting the fusion of artistic traditions.

Located at 978-4 Kasama in Ibaraki Prefecture, the museum comprises three wings, an outdoor sculpture garden, and the historic Shunpu Banri So complex.

The West Wing holds a collection of artist palette paintings, which form an important resource for research into painting techniques and color theories.
