Oron Museum, National museum in Calabar, Nigeria

The Oron Museum contains eight hundred ancestral figures carved from wood, displaying traditional craftsmanship of the Oron people through generations.

Established in 1958, the museum preserves artifacts and ethnographic exhibits connected to the history of slave trading near Marina Beach.

The museum exhibits currencies, including copper bars, manilas, and brass bells, which were used during the historical trade exchanges.

The National Commission for Museums and Monuments operates this institution every day of the week, including weekends and public holidays.

The collection features Ekpu Oro wooden carvings, recognized as some of the oldest surviving wooden sculptures from the African continent.
