Market Square in Wadowice

The Market Square features a collection of nineteenth-century tenement houses and a central church tower that defines the skyline of Wadowice.

The square functioned as a medieval trade center where merchants gathered to sell goods and establish commercial relationships with local residents.

Following Karol Wojtyła's elevation to Pope John Paul II, the square became a gathering place during his three visits to his hometown in 1979, 1991, and 1999.

The square contains multiple cafes, restaurants, and shops, with regular public transportation connections to neighboring towns and cities.

In 1995, the square received its current name, John Paul II Square, marking the 75th anniversary of the Pope's birth in this Polish town.
