Marollenkapel, Catholic chapel in Hoegaarden, Belgium
Marollenkapel sits at the highest point between Grote Gete and Molenbeek-Menebeek surrounded by elder, ash, and maple trees. The grounds feature benches, an observation point with an orientation table, and maintained grass areas for visitors.
The chapel was built in 1832 by the Sisters of Mariadal, who cared for it until 1970. It then passed to private ownership before being acquired later by the Flemish Land Agency.
The name comes from a folk variation of 'Maricollen,' referring to the religious sisters who built this place of worship. Today it remains a quiet place where visitors can appreciate both the religious structure and its natural surroundings.
The location sits at 104 meters elevation and is easily accessible on foot with established paths and orientation aids available. Visitors should note it is an open area, so weather protection and appropriate clothing are recommended.
The grounds serve as a preferred location for stargazing events due to minimal light pollution and favorable viewing conditions. The clear view skyward makes it a rare quiet spot for observing the night sky in this region.
