Newlands Park College Of Education, Grade II listed educational center in Chalfont St Peter, England.
Newlands Park College of Education is a Grade II listed Georgian building in Chalfont St Peter, Buckinghamshire, standing within a green estate on the edge of the village. The main façade follows the symmetrical proportions typical of the period, with evenly spaced windows and traditional brick and stonework.
The building was constructed in the 18th century as a private country house and passed through several owners before being converted into a teacher training college in 1946. That change gave the property a public role while keeping its original structure largely intact.
Newlands Park takes its name from the estate it once was, and the grounds still feel more like a country property than a school campus. Students move between old trees and wide lawns, giving the place a rhythm quite different from an ordinary college setting.
The site is part of an active educational institution, so public access to the grounds is generally limited. It is worth checking in advance whether the exterior or any part of the estate can be visited, as the listed status does not automatically open the site to visitors.
An obelisk erected in 1785 on the grounds marks the spot of a stag hunt that took place during a royal visit to the estate. This kind of monument is rarely found on school grounds and makes the site stand out among listed properties in Buckinghamshire.
