Garden Lodge, Kensington, Mansion in Kensington, England
Garden Lodge is a Georgian house set behind a high brick wall in Kensington, positioned within a quiet residential area near Logan Place. The facade features a recessed entrance door, tall windows and the outer wall shields the inner courtyard entirely from public view.
Singer Freddie Mercury acquired the residence in 1985 and lived there until autumn 1991. After his death the estate passed into private hands and has remained closed to the public ever since.
The site draws quiet admirers who leave flowers, notes and messages along the wall facing Logan Place. Fans continue to mark anniversaries and personal moments at the gate, turning the pavement into an informal place of tribute.
The estate remains closed to visitors and only the outer wall can be seen from Logan Place. Those wishing to view the exterior should stay on the public pavement and respect the privacy of residents nearby.
Mary Austin, who inherited the property, has kept the interior unchanged since November 1991. Furniture and personal items remain in their original positions, creating a private time capsule inaccessible to outside visitors.
