The Oxford Artisan Distillery

The Oxford Artisan Distillery is a grain-to-glass operation housed in a Grade II listed barn that produces rye whisky, gin, and vodka. The production uses organic grains sourced from farms in the surrounding region.

Founded in 2017, it became the first certified organic grain-to-glass distillery in the United Kingdom. This establishment marked a turning point in how spirits were produced locally with sustainability in mind.

The distillery partners with established Oxford institutions to create spirits like Ashmolean Dry Gin that reflect local heritage and pride. These collaborations show how craft production connects with the city's academic and cultural identity.

Visitors can taste and purchase spirits directly from the producer in a welcoming setting. It is helpful to check opening hours ahead of time, as they vary by season.

Inside are two copper stills of different sizes that were custom-made for the operation. This equipment showcases how contemporary craft production uses traditional techniques.
