Magdalen Hill Cemetery spans across 20 acres at the eastern end of Magdalen Hill Down, featuring numerous paths between memorial stones and mature trees.
The cemetery opened in 1914 when West Hill Cemetery reached capacity, and during World War I, it temporarily housed over 500 American servicemen burials.
The cemetery maintains 37 First World War and 65 Second World War burials under the care of the Commonwealth War Graves Commission.
Winchester City Council manages this Grade II listed park and garden, which serves the unparished area of Winchester with an extension added in 2017.
The site combines Victorian garden cemetery design elements with natural landscape features, creating an environment that connects history with nature.
