Surendrapuri, Mythological theme park in Telangana, India
Surendrapuri is a theme park in Telangana filled with around 3000 sculptures depicting scenes from Hindu mythology and temple replicas. The grounds span several kilometers with recreations of celestial worlds and detailed stone figures illustrating religious stories.
The park was founded by Sri Kunda Satyanarayana, a man from a farming family who pursued this ambitious project without formal education. His goal was to create an educational museum making religious stories accessible to all.
The park shows stories from Indian religions through life-sized temple replicas and detailed depictions of divine narratives. Visitors recognize familiar themes from sacred texts brought to life in stone and color throughout the grounds.
Visitors can download a dedicated mobile app that provides audio explanations of mythological stories while exploring. This helps understand the many scenes and their meanings as you walk through the grounds.
A notable feature is the depiction of the ocean churning, one of the most important scenes in Hindu mythology, rendered with remarkably detailed stone and metal sculptures. This sequence portrays the cosmic struggle between gods and demons over the nectar of immortality.
