Yadagirigutta Temple, Hindu temple in Yadadri Bhuvanagiri district, India
Yadagirigutta is a Hindu place of worship in Yadadri Bhuvanagiri district, India, built on a hill at roughly 3000 feet. The central structure is made of black granite, with gilded decorations and figures on the towers and rooftops.
The site was established as a pilgrimage center during the Chalukya dynasty and appears in ancient Hindu scriptures such as the Skanda Purana. In 2022, the compound was fully renovated to accommodate more visitors.
Worshippers from across India come here to pray before the lion deity's statue and offer flowers and fruit as gifts. Pilgrims walk around the shrine several times clockwise while chanting mantras, and priests conduct several daily ceremonies with oil lamps and incense.
The climb to the shrine follows paved paths and steps, with shaded resting spots along the route. Weekends and festivals draw large crowds, so weekday visits tend to be quieter.
A natural cave inside holds three stone sculptures over 30 feet long, showing Narasimha in his three forms: Jwala, Gandabhiranda, and Yogananda. These carvings are hewn directly from the rock and display the deity with different facial expressions and postures.
