Victoria Memorial Home, Historic school and orphanage in Saroornagar, India
The Victoria Memorial Home spans across 70 acres with a rectangular structure measuring 420 feet in length and 285 feet in breadth, featuring high-ceilinged rooms and an arched entrance.
Following Queen Victoria's death in 1904, the British Resident requested an institute in her memory, leading the Nizam of Hyderabad to establish this institution at Saroornagar Palace.
The building incorporates architectural elements of Hyderabad Deccan style, representing a fusion of local design traditions with institutional requirements of the early 20th century.
The Victoria Memorial Home functions as both a residential facility and a high school, providing education and care for children within its extensive campus grounds.
The structure was originally intended as a hunting lodge by Nizam Mahboob Ali Khan in 1882, but he abandoned the project due to falling ill after visiting the site.
