Aza Khana-e-Zohra

Aza Khana-e-Zohra is a religious structure in Darulshifa distinguished by a large assembly hall with a teak ceiling constructed without internal support columns. The complex comprises multiple sections and two courtyards that together accommodate substantial crowds.

The Nizam of Hyderabad, Mir Osman Ali Khan, built this site in 1930 to honor his deceased mother Amtul Zehra Begum. The structure became an important location for religious observances and continues to serve that purpose today.

The space functions as a gathering place during Muharram, when thousands join together to honor Imam Hussein through ceremonies and collective prayer. The annual commemoration brings people together across generations to participate in shared religious rituals.

The interior walls are decorated with intricate Quranic verses and sayings about Prophet Muhammad's family. These calligraphic details are complemented by gold alams adorned with precious stones.
