Salar Jung Museum, Art museum in Hyderabad, India
The Salar Jung Museum is one of the largest museums in the world, housing a collection of sculptures, paintings, carvings, textiles, manuscripts, ceramics, metallic artifacts, carpets, clocks, and furniture from various countries.
It was established in 1951 by Nawab Mir Yousuf Ali Khan Salar Jung III, former Prime Minister of the seventh Nizam of Hyderabad.
The museum's collection was sourced globally and includes Persian carpets, Chinese porcelain, Japanese lacquerware, and famous statues including the Veiled Rebecca and Marguerite and Mephistopheles.
The museum is open from 10 am to 5 pm on all days except Fridays and national holidays.
It is known for its most prized collections from different civilizations dating back to the 1st century.
