Purani Haveli, Royal palace in Hyderabad, India.
Purani Haveli is a royal palace in Hyderabad, India, with a U-shaped layout of two oblong side wings and a central residential area. The architecture follows the style of European mansions from the late 19th century.
The palace was built in 1880 as a residence for the Nizams and housed several generations of the ruling family of Hyderabad. The sixth and seventh Nizam lived and governed from here until the princely state merged with the Indian Union.
The rooms now serve as the Nizam Museum, where visitors can see objects from the daily life and reign of Mir Osman Ali Khan. The collection displays garments, jewelry and personal items that once belonged to the ruling family.
The complex is located in central Hyderabad and is well connected by several bus routes. It is best to visit the building in the morning, when the light shows the facades and courtyards clearly.
Inside is the world's longest wardrobe, stretching 240 feet (73 meters) across two stories. The piece of furniture contains 150 walk-in cupboards and a hand-operated wooden elevator that moves between the levels.
