The Vale Niseko, Seven-story architectural structure in Upper Hirafu Village, Niseko, Japan
The Vale Niseko is a seven-story residential building in Upper Hirafu Village, positioned directly at the base of the Family Run slope. The structure contains 49 units ranging from studios to penthouses, each with full kitchen facilities and access to natural hot spring baths sourced from deep volcanic reserves.
The building was designed by architect Nikken Sekkei in 2007 and completed in December 2009, reaching full occupancy within nine days of opening. Its construction marked a turning point in the development of Niseko as a major residential destination during a period of significant expansion.
The property integrates Japanese bathing traditions with modern amenities, featuring both public and private onsen baths supplied by volcanic waters from a 700-meter well.
The location is easily walkable, sitting just 120 meters from the village center with direct proximity to the Ace Family Quad Lift. Direct slope access means quick transitions between skiing and returning to the building, while the nearby village provides shops and dining options within easy reach.
Each residential unit was individually designed around optimal views rather than following a standard layout template. This approach means that nearly every space within the building frames the surrounding mountains differently, creating distinct visual experiences throughout.
