Tepsi Minare, Clock tower in Erzurum, Turkey.
Tepsi Minare is a clock tower in Erzurum located near the Great Mosque and Tebriz Gate on Cumhuriyet Street. The structure rises about 31 meters (101 feet) high and is topped with a clock mechanism.
The tower originated as a mosque minaret built between 1124 and 1132 by Ebu'l-Muzaffer Gazi. The clock mechanism was added before 1843 and has defined the structure's appearance since then.
The tower displays traditional Seljuk architectural elements through its stone craftsmanship and geometric patterns that represent medieval Anatolian design.
The tower sits in an easy-to-reach location near Erzurum's center on a busy street. It is best visited during daylight hours to see the architectural details and clock face clearly.
A miniature replica of the clock tower was placed in Clock Towers Park in Safranbolu, which opened in 2012. This smaller version lets visitors see the original's features in reduced form.
