Belvédère du Revard, Scenic viewpoint in Les Déserts, France
The Belvédère du Revard is a scenic viewpoint on the Revard plateau in Les Déserts, Savoie, at around 1,530 feet (1,530 m) above sea level. The site offers a wide view over Lac du Bourget, the town of Aix-les-Bains, the Dent du Chat, and on a clear day, Mont Blanc.
The Revard plateau attracted tourists as far back as the 19th century, when a rack railway ran from Aix-les-Bains up to the summit. That line no longer exists, but the site has remained a destination for day trips ever since.
The site is easy to reach by car and has a large parking area nearby, and most of the paths are accessible to strollers and wheelchairs. It is worth checking the weather before you go, as clouds can block the view completely.
One of the wooden walkways at the site has glass panels in the floor, so you look straight down into the drop below as if you were floating in the air. Paragliders regularly launch from here, and on busy days you can watch them take off just a few steps away.
