Trou de Bozouls is a circular canyon carved by the Dourdou river into the limestone plateau. The steep rock walls surround a green valley floor with water and vegetation that can be viewed from multiple vantage points around the rim.
A castle built in the 9th century once stood on the rocky spur overlooking this canyon and served as a seat for the Counts of Rodez. The structure has long vanished but its position on the rocky plateau was strategically important.
