Ópera Garnier is an observation point on the roof of the opera house in Paris, offering panoramic views of the city's center. From here, the grand boulevards, the Seine River, and the Montmartre district spread out below.
The building was completed in 1875 and was designed from the start with multiple viewing areas. Architect Charles Garnier envisioned allowing visitors to observe the city from above.
The bronze sculptures adorning the roof depict music and dance, reflecting the artistic identity of the house. Visitors can examine these works up close and appreciate the craftsmanship of their execution.
Access to the roof normally requires purchasing a ticket at the building. Visitors should wear sturdy footwear and check weather conditions before going up, as wind can be noticeable at height.
The roof contains approximately 30 individual chimneys featuring detailed metalwork. These structures were originally functional necessities but were crafted with artistic care and remain an interesting architectural detail today.
